In 1934, during the 15th International Conference in Tokyo, the Red Cross Truce report was presented. This report told how the Red Cross should work to protect injured people during wars.
Later, in 1946, during the Second World War, the Red Cross started working more actively using these rules.
In 1948, the Board of Governors of the League of the Red Cross Societies decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant. Since then, May 8 is observed every year as World Red Cross Day to celebrate his efforts and remember his work.
