The selection process for EPFO 2025  will consist of a Written Examination followed by an Interview.

UPSC EPFO Recruitment Process 2025

UPSC EPFO recruitment Process 2025 involves a two-stage selection process as outlined by the UPSC EPFO application form 2025. 

Phase 1- Recruitment Test (RT)

  • Mode of Exam: Offline
  • Format of UPSC EPFO: Objective-type test with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Duration of UPSC EPFO Exam: 2 hours.
  • Total Questions IN EPFO: 120 questions, each carrying 2.5 marks.
  • Total Marks in  EPFO: 300 marks (contributes 75% to the final selection).
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks (0.833 marks) deducted for each incorrect answer.

Phase 2- Personal Interview

Total  Interview marks in EPFO exam: 100 marks (contributes 25% to the final selection).

Qualifying Marks (category-wise) in UPSC EPFO 2025:

  • For General: 50 marks.
  • For OBC: 45 marks.
  • For SC/ST/PwBD: 40 marks.

Educational Qualifications for EPFO

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Degrees in Law, Management, or related fields are desirable but not mandatory.

Nationality for EPFO

  • Indian citizens, or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (pre-1962), or persons of Indian origin from specified countries (e.g., Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc.), intending to settle permanently in India.

Age Limit for EPFO and APFC

  • EO/AO: Maximum 30 years (as of August 1, 2025).
  • APFC: Maximum 35 years (as of August 1, 2025).
  • Age relaxation applies as per UPSC norms (e.g., for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EPFO employees).

According to UPSC EPFO application form 2025, the last date to apply for the UPSC EPFO 2025 exam is August 18, 2025, 11:59 PM. Applications can be submitted online via the UPSC website. The last date to apply for UPSC EPFO and APFC is the same, i.e. 18 August 2025.

There is a total of 230 vacancies in both EPFO and APFC. In Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer (EO/AO) 156 vacancies (UR: 78, EWS: 01, OBC: 42, SC: 23, ST: 12, PwBD: 9) and in Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) 74 vacancies (UR: 32, EWS: 07, OBC: 28, SC: 07)

UPSC EPFO and APFC admit cards are expected to be released 2–3 weeks before the exam date (tentatively November 30, 2025) on the UPSC website. Candidates must download it using their Registration ID or Roll Number and carry a printed copy to the exam centre
