The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially declared the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (CSE) 2026 result today, 15 June 2026. Candidates who appeared in the examination conducted on 24 May 2026 can now check their qualifying status by downloading the official result PDF and searching for their roll number.

About UPSC CSE Prelims 2026

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 was conducted on 24 May 2026 across 83 examination centres and 2,072 venues throughout India. More than 8.19 lakh candidates had registered for the examination, while approximately 5.49 lakh candidates appeared.

The result has been declared 22 days after the examination, making it one of the fastest result cycles in recent years.

How to Check UPSC Prelims 2026 Result

Follow these steps to verify your result:

  1. Download the official result PDF using the link provided above.
  2. Open the PDF on your device.
  3. Press Ctrl + F (Windows) or Cmd + F (Mac).
  4. Enter your roll number.
  5. If your roll number appears in the document, you have qualified for the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination 2026.
  6. Save the PDF for future reference.

What Does the Result PDF Contain?

The result PDF contains the roll numbers of candidates who have qualified for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026.

UPSC will separately issue instructions regarding:

  • Detailed Application Form (DAF-I)

  • Mains examination procedures
  • Other important notifications for qualified candidates

Individual marks and official cut-off scores will be released only after completion of the entire Civil Services Examination cycle.

Provisional Answer Key & Dropped Question

Earlier, UPSC released the provisional answer key for GS Paper I on 28 May 2026, just four days after the examination.

One question from General Studies Paper I was dropped, and evaluation was conducted out of 199 questions instead of 200. Experts believe this could have had a minor impact on overall cut-off trends.

Expected UPSC Prelims 2026 Cut-Off

The official cut-off will be published only after the final result of the Civil Services Examination. Based on expert analysis, the expected cut-off range is:

  • General (UR): 73–78 marks
  • OBC: 68–73 marks
  • EWS: 68–73 marks
  • SC: 60–65 marks
  • ST: 56–62 marks

These figures are estimates and should not be treated as official UPSC cut-offs.

What Happens Next?

1. Detailed Application Form (DAF-I)

Candidates who have qualified in the Preliminary Examination must fill out the Detailed Application Form (DAF-I) when UPSC opens the submission window.

Failure to submit the DAF within the prescribed deadline will result in disqualification from the Mains examination.

2. UPSC Civil Services Mains 2026

The UPSC CSE Mains 2026 is scheduled to commence on 21 August 2026.

Approximately 11,000–12,000 candidates are expected to qualify for the next stage.

3. Personality Test (Interview)

Candidates shortlisted after the Mains examination will be called for the Personality Test, expected between February and May 2027.

4. Final Result & Service Allocation

The final merit list will be prepared based on combined marks obtained in:

  • Written Mains Examination
  • Personality Test (Interview)

Successful candidates will be allocated services including IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group A and Group B services based on rank and preference.
