Context: Recently, the Election Commission announced that its Suvidha portal has garnered over 73,000 applications since the declaration of the Lok Sabha polls.

• Streamlining Processes: It simplifies the process of obtaining and addressing requests for permissions and facilities during elections.
• Diverse Permission Requests: Suvidha Portal handles a wide range of permission requests transparently, following the First in First Out principle.
• Online Accessibility: Political parties and candidates can conveniently submit permission requests online from any location, at any time, with offline submission options also available.
• Permission Catering: It caters to permissions for various election-related activities such as rallies, setting up temporary party offices, canvassing, etc.
• Supported by: IT platform, Suvidha Portal is managed by nodal officers across state departments, ensuring efficient management of requests.
• Companion App: The portal offers a companion app that allows applicants to track the real-time status of their requests.
