Facing mounting international pressure and military defeat, Pakistan was forced to pull back. By July 11, 1999, Indian troops had reclaimed all major positions. The conflict officially ended on July 26, 1999, now celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
India lost over 500 brave soldiers in the Kargil War. Heroes like Captain Vikram Batra, Lt. Manoj Kumar Pandey, and Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav became household names for their valor.
