A Time for Empathy

Context: During the crisis of global COVID-19 pandemic the economic and political policies must be instruments for building an inclusive and nurturing society.

Time has come for empathy:

• Nurturing Economy: Government policies must be instruments for building a society that is secular, inclusive, and nurturing.
• Equitable Society: Our goal is not to make India the richest nation in the world but to make India an example of an equitable society.
• Nation's culture and wisdom: We can draw inspiration from it to lead a life that nurtures the soil and creates a healthy environment. 
• Talisman principle (Mahatma Gandhi): We must recall the face of the poorest man and ask ourselves if the step we contemplate is going to be any use to him.
• Categorical Imperative (Immanuel Kant):  To treat humanity always as an end and never as only a means.

Conclusion: It is a time to come together and explore the best ideas and actions to build a safety net for the vulnerable people in society, and to transform the structures of our economy.
