Context: India being the world’s largest pool of technology talent could play a larger role in defining standards of technology-led Industrial Revolution (IR-4).

IR-4: Future Work Maturity Model based on 4Ps

  • People:  Digital technologies (3D printing, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, Internet of Things, and 5G) based “remotopia", or the new utopia for remote working (like gig economy) undermines the need for full-time workers.
  • Processes:  Industries are moving towards agile, iterative, and blended processes, overhauling traditional approaches (like the Pharmaceutical industry).
  • Partnerships:  Traditional partner ecosystem (within an industry, such as sub-contractors, distributors, or logistics providers) is replaced by a new partnership between humans and machines working in teams (humanoids, cobots and other digital workers).
  • Protocols: Traditional protocols (like procedures, rules, regulations, agreements and covenants) will be revised in favour of distributed remote working models (like tech ethics or machine ethics, the new norm for governance, risk, and compliance).
