  • Meaning: A free-rider is one who is not contributing, although has the means to do so, riding on the contribution of others. For example

DEFINITION
Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM):
  • Definition: The CBAM is a policy tool to avert ‘carbon leakage’. It refers to a phenomenon of ensuring that imported goods are subject to the same carbon costs as products produced within the domestic market. 
  • Aim: To prevent carbon-intensive economic activity from moving out of jurisdictions with relatively stringent climate policies and into those with relatively less stringent policies.
  • It was introduced by the European Union at CoP27 with the purpose to tax products such as cement and steel, that are extremely carbon intensive, with effect from 2026.
Constitutional Morality: 
  • Definition: Constitutional Morality means adherence to or being faithful to bottom line principles of constitutional values.
  • It includes commitment to inclusive and democratic political process in which both individual and collective interests are satisfied.
