Community based resilience:

  • Meaning: The term refers to the collective ability of a community to withstand, adapt to, and recover from various challenges, crises, or disruptions. 
  • It is a measure of a community's capacity to effectively respond to and bounce back from adversity while preserving its social, economic, and environmental well-being.

Creating flood resilient cities:
  • Case: China.
  • Step taken: China is trying to transform 30 of its megacities into “sponge cities”. 
  • Green roofs to slow down run-off into drains, urban forests to enable percolation, groundwater recharge and wetlands to absorb and reuse two-thirds of their water. 
  • East Kolkata: Wetlands have been an effective flood defence mechanism that help treat a large share of the city’s sewage, produce half of the city’s fresh vegetables, and provide livelihoods to one lakh people. 
  • Practical nature-based blue-green-grey infrastructure such as these hold the key to climate adaptation.
Success of public-private partnership/Skill India project:
  • Step taken: Namda project: an industry-based training program with beneficiaries involved in Namda Crafts Production who will contribute towards preserving and reviving the rich heritage associated with Namda craft in Kashmir.
  • Achievement: The Namda craft of Kashmir is being successfully revived under a Skill India’s Pilot Project as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

KEY FACTS

Export preparedness Index (EPI) Report: 
  • Released by: NITI Aayog.
  • Objective: The index undertakes a comprehensive analysis of States and UTs across export-related parameters in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Four pillars: The index is based on 4 pillars i.e., Policy, Business Ecosystem, Export Ecosystem, and Export Performance. 
  • Each pillar is composed of sub-pillars, which in turn capture a state’s performance using relevant indicators.
  • EPI, 2021: Topped by Gujarat, followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. 
India’s imports:
