Elevator that lifts country’s productivity:
  • Meaning: It refers to initiatives, policies, or strategies aimed at boosting overall productivity levels within a nation.
  • Usage: Initiatives (Gati Shakti, Make in India, Startup India, Digital India, Skill India), Policies (National Education Policy, Foreign Trade Policy, Logistic Policy, Data Governance Policy), Strategies (Harnessing Demographic dividend or power of Middle class, cooperative & competitive federalism, Industry 4.0).
Low productivity Trap:
  • Meaning: A situation in which an economy or a sector experiences persistently low levels of productivity growth over an extended period.
  • Usage: Agriculture, Manufacturing/MSME, Exports, Inadequate education and skill, Regulatory burdens, Lack of innovation, Infrastructure gap, civil services (low productivity), Taxation etc.
Holes in the digital net:
  • Meaning: It signifies gaps or shortcomings in digital connectivity, access to technology, or digital infrastructure that prevent certain individuals, communities, or regions from fully participating in the digital age. 
  • Usage: It can be used in digital divide, Digital illiteracy, Cyber-attacks, Lack of Privacy and safety, Data theft (CoWIN), lack of proper infrastructure like internet connectivity & speed, electricity etc.
Cancel Culture:
  • Meaning: It is people’s way of expressing dissent or disapproval over something they find objectionable.
  • Usage: Pressure groups, Social Media Boycotting, Globalization, Indian Society, Impact on Mental Health, Economic boycotting (Chinese Products) etc.
  • For Example: Mass withdrawal of support from public figures or celebrities who have done things that aren't socially accepted.

Achievements of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan:
  • Mission Launched in 2020 by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
  • Aim of Mission: To create awareness about ill e?ects of substance abuse among the youth, with special focus on higher education institutes, university campuses, schools and reaching out into the community.
  • > 10 crore people have been sensitized on substance use including youth and women. 
  • 37% increase in people seeking counseling and de-addiction services since the launch.

Production linked incentive (PLI) Scheme:
  • Value addition in electronics and mobile manufacturing has increased to 23% and 20%, from negligible value addition in 2014-15.
  • Value addition: China = About 49%. Vietnam = About 18% after many years. 
  • In comparison, India has reached the 20-23% mark in a very short time.
IMF Data: India’s share of global exports:
  • India’s share of global exports: Currently at just over 2%.
  • India aims to raise it to 10% by 2047.
  • China’s and US’s share of world output: More than 18% and 25% respectively.

  • Definition: It is a biomedical engineering discipline that integrates biology with engineering to create tissues or cellular products outside the body (in artificial medium) or to make use of gained knowledge to better manage the repair of tissues within the body.
  • This technique is also called micropropagation. 
  • Types: Seed Culture, Embryo Culture, Organ Culture, Pollen Culture etc.
