RAS Cut Off Prelims \u2013 Explained<\/b><\/h2>\n

The RAS Preliminary exam is a screening test with one objective paper that selects candidates for the Mains. Unlike UPSC, the RPSC RAS Prelims has only one paper, which covers General Knowledge and Science. This paper consists of 150 multiple-choice questions worth a total of 200 marks. Every question contributes to the cut-off, as there are no qualifying papers. Only candidates who score at or above the Prelims cut-off can move on to the Mains.<\/span><\/p>\n

RPSC then creates a PDF called \u201cRAS Cut Off Marks\u201d that lists cut-offs by category. These cut-offs depend on the exam\u2019s difficulty and the level of competition. RAS Cutoff Prelims: Last 5 Years \u2013 Analysis<\/b><\/h2>\n

Exam difficulty and trends are clearly reflected in the above cut-offs. The General category prelim cut-off was around <\/span>78\u201385<\/b> between 2016 – 2021 and soared well above <\/span>100<\/b> in 2023, then declined to <\/span>71.59<\/b> in 2024. This suggests the 2023 paper was moderate (raising cut-offs) and 2024\u2019s was tough (lowering cut-offs). Such swings are common in competitive exams. The number of vacancies also matters: when seats increase, cut-offs tend to fall. RPSC adjusts each year\u2019s qualifying marks based on overall performance.<\/span><\/p>\n
