This event escalated into the Haymarket Affair, a major incident that, despite its violence, spotlighted the urgent need for labour reforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1889, the Second International, an international socialist organization, formally declared May 1 as a day to honor workers globally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In India, the first celebration of Labour Day took place on 1st May 1923 in Chennai (then Madras), initiated by Comrade Singaravelu Chettiar. Important constitutional provisions include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 14 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ensures equality before the law for every individual.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 19(1)(c)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> grants citizens the right to form associations and unions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 21 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">guarantees the protection of life and personal liberty.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 23 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prohibits forced labour in any form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 24<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bans the employment of children under the age of fourteen years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 39(a)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> directs the State to provide its citizens with equal rights to an adequate means of livelihood.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 41 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mandates the State to secure the right to work and education within its economic capacity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 42<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> urges the State to ensure just and humane working conditions along with maternity relief.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 43<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> requires the State to promote living wages, decent working conditions, and access to social and cultural opportunities for all workers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article 43A <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">focuses on ensuring workers&#8217;
