Like every year, the Prime Minister and other leaders will gather at an event. The National Civil Service is a group of government workers who help in making and following rules, running programs, and serving the public. This is a day for civil servants to promise again that they will work honestly and serve the country with full dedication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first <\/span><b>National Civil Service Day<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was held on 21 April 2006 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He was the Governor-General of India from 1786 to 1793 and played a key role in laying the foundation of a structured civil service in India. His reforms brought discipline, honesty, and structure to British India&#8217;s administrative system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cornwallis introduced rules for recruitment and salaries and ensured that civil servants maintained ethical standards. It allowed Indians to try for civil service jobs. Before this, only British people could become top officers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Act started competitive exams for the civil service. But the exams were held in London, so it was still hard for many Indians to take part. This happened around 200 BC during the Han dynasty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In China, people were selected for government jobs by taking exams. These exams tested knowledge of Confucian books, ethics, and good behavior. This exam is called the Civil Services Examination and is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are three parts to this exam:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prelims (Preliminary Exam) \u2013 Multiple choice questions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mains Exam \u2013 Long written answers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interview \u2013 A face-to-face talk to check personality and ideas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who pass all three steps can become officers in the IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IPS (Indian Police Service), and IFS (Indian Foreign Service).
