In 2003, it became a legal body through the <\/span><b>Central Vigilance Commission Act.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Composition_of_Central_Vigilance_Commission\"><\/span><b>Composition of Central Vigilance Commission<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CVC is a multi-member body comprising:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Central Vigilance Commissioner<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 The head of the Commission.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Two Vigilance Commissioners <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Assist the Central Vigilance Commissioner in executing the Commission\u2019s duties.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are chosen by the President of India, with advice from a committee that includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prime Minister (Chairperson)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union Minister of Home Affairs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tenure_of_Members_of_Central_Vigilance_Commission\"><\/span><b>Tenure of Members of Central Vigilance Commission<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The members work for four years or until they turn 65, whichever comes first. This Act ensures that the CVC operates autonomously, enabling it to effectively oversee vigilance activities and combat corruption within government institutions and public sector organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whistle_Blowers_Protection_Act_2014\"><\/span><b>Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2014<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Act safeguards individuals who report corruption.
